The Pirate ship party
Wednesday allowed for the boys and their beasts to catch their breath, Croatian style. Whilst the drivers became hearty shipmates on the Carbon Black pirate ship party, the supercars got some pampering and attention.
First up was the crunched Lamborghini Diablo – a full repair was carried out, but Team 6 have opted to hire a car for the remainder of the event: a Lamborghini Mercielago.

The damaged Diablo
Bill Buckler’s Porsche breakdown was as a result of some naughty potholes, which basically bottomed out the 997. Carbon Black to the rescue: two new tyres and wheels were flown in on a private jet to get our Porsche Pilot back on track for tomorrow.
Team 14’s Ferrari F40 had a burnt out clutch. Cue the Carbon Black team organising the private jet to fly a brand new clutch from Ferrari in Maranello on the private jet. On arrival, the clutch presented its own problems in the fact that it needed a special tool to fit it. You’d think that this would be a problem – but no, Carbon Black arranged for the Italian Stallion to be flown to the Ferrari Factory in to be fixed. In the meantime, Team 14 will journey on with a Porsche 997 instead.
Next up – the Maserati. Team 20 experienced fuelling problems with a cracked engine case. Not deterred by this, they tried to buy a new car – a Subaru RX – but had no joy, so are hotstepping the tarmac in a hired BMW M5 – they’ll be flying out to pick up their new metal monster so they can rejoin the action.
Paul from Team 33 reported that the Mercedes SL65 made whoopy and had a blow out yesterday – these Carbon Black Crusaders travelled 200 miles to Dubrovnik with a partial repair, and made it good today
Day three’s dodgeming antics resulted in the orange Lambo needing a new bonnet and the white M5 requiring a new bumper. Both cars are thought to be continuing on the rally tomorrow.

All in all, there have been a total of seventeen tyre changes, including two newbies for the lovely Pete Fenton’s Porsche Cayenne. I would imagine that Wing Commander Donut accounted for a good few of the other tyres. Nods’ Hamann didn’t get away without a nick – the Lambo had her rubber Manolo Blahniks damaged – not a problem, as two new wheels are being flown to fix it. So, this is the power of Carbon Black: from flat tyres to jetting parts and cars out, this event ensures that the pressure is taken off the Drivers and matters get sorted when things appear to get tricky.
Thank you, Dubrovnik for being such excellent hosts to Carbon Black.
