2007 Rally Start Party

Saturday 28th April- Savoy London

LONDON, ENGLAND, With its diverse mix of trans-continental drivers, extraordinary party maniacs and smouldering girls, Carbon Black’s Eastern Europe Adventure descended upon the Capital to initiate the electrifying sequence of events for the week ahead.
Ready for the off, a select set of remarkable supercars have already been transported to the start line at a top secret location deep inside Eastern Europe. Last night, the world-class Savoy Hotel on The Strand was given the Carbon Black treatment for the start party.

A few pre-party drinks saw familiar faces including Ant Howarth and co-driver Steve Mason, Dean Philp, Lars and Joe, our lovely Norwegian lady-killer Sten, HeCe and the beaming Polish Adam amongst others catching up with each other and speculating about the week ahead of them.

The Drivers and their guests made their way into the Savoy’s decadent ballroom to sit down for an excellent dinner and the glittering main event.

The atmosphere was buzzing as the evening’s show and imminent event were officially opened by ‘The Queen’ - escorted by a bevvy of sparkling beauties. Next up was Carbon Black’s own blinged-up Pimp Daddio, Nods (aka P Noddy), who strutted his way onto the stage flanked by a myriad of sultry girls. Nods addressed the audience and the Drivers got their first taste of what’s in store for them this week by way of a fantastically tongue-in-cheek preview film. Next up was a fantastic on-stage pole-dance by the British pole dancing champion who put on an absolutely amazing performance followed by a pumping dance routine – and the crowd absolutely loved it.

To round the show off, Kathy Brown – who performed with Soul Central for the 2004 floor filler ‘Strings of Life’ – gave a belting live performance.

The drinks flowed with the throng taking advantage of the generously stocked free bar constantly topped up by the ever-attentive Savoy staff. Drivers, old and new, mixed and bantered – there was a real sense of camaraderie and a genuine excitement about the Eastern Europe Adventure. Pete Fenton had us in stitches about his new nickname (I’ll let him reveal that one to you if he wishes!) and Ant and Steve were seemingly attached to the bar for a large portion of the night. King of the castle, Lord Tango von Tangospeed, joined the party and it was great to also see Henning putting in an appearance.
